A BUILDING INSPIRED BY NATURE

The project for the renovation of the Forum des Halles in Paris, designed by architects Patrick Berger and Jacques Anziutti, consists of a building with smooth curves inspired by nature. It is called the Canopy, a term used to describe the top of tropical forests. In the shape of a huge, transparent leaf swaying over the tops of the trees in the garden, the Canopy houses two buildings for public amenities and shops, built around a patio which will become the new heart of Les Halles.

SEVERAL SUBSIDIARIES WERE MOBILISED

Castel & Fromaget assembled the framework of the project led by Vinci with the help of four tower cranes and additional mobile cranes. The roof of the Canopy consists of 17 transparent Louvre boards with a span of up to 96 metres.

Viry built the structures and windows of the Canopy. Barbot built the two walkways bordering the patio and ACML contributed to the production of certain load-bearing elements of the glazing.
