A revolution in topography and cartography.

3D Networks

Today, views of underground networks can be captured on video and displayed in augmented reality.

The RESO 3D application was designed by a surveyor and allows trenches and underground networks to be filmed with a smartphone. The files are processed by photogrammetry to generate point clouds of networks and trenches. This is all georeferenced to the control points. Network protection is continuous and the video sensor adjusts automatically to match existing environments.

Point cloud files of the RESO 3D type can be used to create a 3D model of the network, designating the valves by type, brand, shape, size and use. All the networks and trenches are captured for later use. Thanks to smartphone apps like RESO 3D, the trench can be filled in without waiting for the surveyor, revealing the control points captured by the video later.

The operation is sent to a server which will use a powerful algorithm to extract the photos from the video and generate 3D objects. Thanks to the film, the trench can be immediately filled in and a surveyor can come and record the control points a few days later.

The images are assembled flat and are available in several formats according to individual specifications.

The advantages of this application:

  • The site foreman no longer has to wait for the surveyor and can get on with their work.
  • Safety is improved, production remains continuous.
  • Everything has been recorded and can be used at a later date.
  • The possibility of showing the textured 3D model directly on your smartphone, manipulating it and understanding its difficulties.

In addition, there is another application that has been designed by a start-up and enables:

  • Establishment and maintenance of the staking of existing networks
  • Projection of the networks and the simulated project on the screen of your smartphone, in video mode. It has two principles:Without a positioning system, the calibration is carried out on existing anchor points & The use of a GNSS antenna (picks up several satellite constellations) which receives geometric corrections, enabling real-time geolocation.

This innovation was presented by Razel-Bec, a subsidiary of the Public Works Division, and was nominated in the Marketing & Services category at the Fayat Innovation Challenge #2
